Rock Baby

We can’t thank Mark and Candice Brooke enough for the most wonderful gift we could ever recieve: beautiful wedding pictures to look back on and remember the happiest day of our lives.  To express our gratitude, I sent them a package of onesies that I embroidered especially for their badass rock star baby Wyatt!

let’s make everybody glad

The darling and I spent our weekend perusing the Brooklyn flea markets and shopping the New York thrift shops all to build up our Sugar Darling Vintage inventory.  Alas, there was not much our paychecks could buy for now, but we are on a mission!  We will have wondrous new items in the shop soon, I promise!

I love going to flea markets and picturing my imaginary house that could hold all of these fabulous items.  A kitchen filled with orange 70s glassware and lime green plastic sugar/flour/tea/coffee canisters.  A living room furnished with antique yellow arm chairs and shelves littered with tchotchkes.  A bedroom with a hand sewn quilt and awesome 50s lamps.  And of course a walk-in closet filled to the brim with sweet vintage dresses and shoes from all decades!  Ohhhhhh dreams.

lookbook

The husby and I celebrated our two month anniversary on Friday!  I can’t even believe it!  We got the cd of pictures from the photographers so we can finally order prints and decorate our apartment with them.  Goody goody gumdrops!  We’re still waiting on the video from the videographer so we can relive the day, we seem to have forgotten what happened.  That whole day was just one big happy blur!  The thank you cards finally went out, I feel bad that it took so long.  We had to get settled and then I ordered a special stamp that took a while to get here and then I forgot how long it takes to actually write out notes, so ya it took a while.  But now they’re all done and I can cross of the very last thing on my wedding to do list.  It’s allllll over.  We’ll just have to renew our vows every so often so that we can have another celebration.  I’ll start planning it :)

All my love xoxo

Hot Town, Summer in the City

Here are a few things that have been going on.  First of all, and worst of all, for some strange reason our refrigerator has decided to make our water taste like freezer burn and I simply can not and will not drink it when it gets to that point.  For this reason, I have been drinking almost-cold water that is not satisfying enough for when I finally reach my apartment after walking up five flights of stairs in an unbelievably sweaty state.  But if that is the least of my worries, then I must count myself as ridiculously lucky.  Secondly, and probably most fortunately, I got a job!  I am a nanny for a faaaaabulous upper west side family and it could not be easier.  I only have to care for one darling little angel and she’s 2 1/2 so she keeps herself busy by making up songs about princesses eating bananas and spinning around until she makes herself so dizzy that she falls over.  Easy.  The only thing that I am a tad bit concerned about is that she doesn’t play dress-up; she didn’t even know what those beautiful words meant.  My whole childhood was one long game of playing dress-up!  So my mom is sending me a bunch of stuff that I’m going to give to the angel so that her eyes can finally be opened.  Boas, tiaras, tutus, dresses, jewelry.  I can’t wait!

For the past two weeks our quaint little 230 square foot apartment has been invaded by house guests.  Don’t get me wrong, it was absolutely wonderful to have two of our dearest friends come visit us, but it was just a tight squeeze for quite a large chunk of time.  Mostly we went open bar hopping and walked around the city stopping in restaurants to eat.  We discovered that our roof has an amazing view, that the weather forecast is almost always wrong, and that Jeff can eat a ridiculously spicy challenge and survive.  I think we also convinced Scott to leave San Francisco for the east coast.

Here are some lovely pictures that sum up my life right now.

For fifty cents you could see the headless woman, and I was too scared.

TGIF!

I finished my first week as a New York nanny and I am just exhausted.  Even though I’m sitting around for a majority of my day, my attention is being focused so intently that my mind is just shot by the end of the 9 1/2 hours and I come home talking like a two year old.  This weekend I will be back on track and I will have lots of updates for you darlings.  Here is a fun little treat to tide you over until then.
