Hi hi hi hi!!!! Happy Monday! I hope everyone had a beautiful weekend and that you are all ready to start a wonderful new week! I have had an extremely busy September and am just here to catch you all up on my many adventures!
First of all, Scottie is here! He moved here about two weeks ago and has been staying with us while looking for his own fabulous New York apartment. He came just in time for Fashion Week, which we celebrated by attending a fashion show for New York Couture! Tim and I both worked with the designer Cassie a while back when we did the photo shoot in the poppy field, and we’ve stayed in touch with her ever since. She invited us to the show and put us on the VIP list so we were able to have access to super exclusive fun times! We watched the models strut their stuff on the runway from the balcony of Webster Hall, so we had a fantastic view of the whole show. Each piece was a ridiculous candy-coated acid trip that made my head swirl with madness…it was just awesome! Please please PLEASE go to her website and look at all the fun photos!

Second of all, Ryan is here! He is in town for a few auditions and hanging out with some of his NY friends, but he’s staying in our apartment so I’ve been able to get some quality time with him too. He’s been catching me up on the world of Disney that I’ve been missing out on and filling me in on what’s happening in his life. It’s been very nice having people I love come visit me in my new city.
Third of all, Tim and I have become completely serious about staring our own wedding photography company. We were just so inspired by Mark and Candice and we want to make that magic happen for other couples. We’ve already shot a few engagement sessions and they were just so much fun to do. Tim has been teaching me all about using the camera and so that I’ll be an amazing photographer too! We’ve been thinking of names for the company and we’re throwing a couple ideas around, but we haven’t come to a conclusion yet. As soon as we do, we’ll have a website up so that we can start showing our portfolio and hopefully get more clients and really make this happen!
Oh, aaaaaand…we have a new dress up in the shop! It is so sweet and lovely that I just want to keep it for myself! Head over to the shop and make it yours.
J Crew…the torture you put me through. Your catalogs filled with luscious cashmere sweaters and oh so lovely coats make me swoon. Alas, I live in New York and cannot afford your delectable treats on my meager nanny salary. But I can dream in candy colors…

GIMME GIMME GIMME!
An excerpt from the found journal…
“We awoke to a golden flickering light on rocks near camp. She started laughing at God’s simple wonder. A bird song followed, that soon turned to hollering, as four large black crows bellowed across the warming lilting water. I went and gathered some fallen oak and birch branches for the fire. Half jokingly, half seriously, we offered it to the glowing morning sun. All day long we meandered through the surrounding woods. The fragrances, sounds, and colors spiraling me back to childhood where nothing had bounds. Where imagination was the promise of the future. At dusk a quarter moon in the southwestern sky. A promise that things started now, would mature on the full orange moon. It was things like this we talked and thought about that special simple day. We decided how good it felt to just soak our feet in Silver Mine lake and look toward polaris in the dipper by the northern star.
The next morning things changed. She started talking of how she was thinking of home, and the things she left, and how unfinished business had to be taken care of. How leaving things was no answer, how life was a series of changes, disappointment and mediocrity etc etc. There was little talk as we drove down sinuous roads with bright yellow lines and smooth black asphalt. At a phone booth behind the glass I saw her crying while I sat in my MG with the motor idling. She returned and asked that I drove her to a train. With apologies and forced cheerfulness she asked me to understand.”
Is it a memoir or fiction? I’d really like to know. xoxo
We have finally added a couple of darling little items to the shop, but we are anticipating a rush of fall goodies in the coming months! But we found these adorable high-waisted shorts with candy-colored stripes and just had to add them right away. The photo shoot on our roof by the husby was so much fun, and I’m sure more SDV items will be showcased up there. Get them while it’s still warm enough to show off those gams! Check out the shop HERE!
Oh baby, I’m in love!
Life has been great, just working hard and relaxing harder! Every night when I get home from work, the husby and I walk around our neighborhood looking for treasure troves of fun places to try. Occasionally we stop by Atlas Cafe and grab a vegan treat to go and enjoy it in Washington Square Park, where we listen to bands like The Bill Murray Experience and watch a unicyclist perform for the crowds. Sometimes on our walks, if we’re very lucky, we’ll find fun things on the street that people have left out as trash, but of course upon finding them we realize that they are absolutely necessary for us to have! Books, baking dishes, a full bag of tea lights…I even found a tiny notebook filled with wonderful stories and illustrations of hopeful inventions. I’m planning on scanning a few pages and posting them because I am truly in love with this find! I wonder if the owner didn’t mean to throw it away and is now frantically looking for his lost notebook filled with his most valuable ideas and memories….or maybe he just threw it away.
xoxo
