Yes, my darlings! It is true…we have a bunch of new delicious items in the shop! Get your shop on before it’s all gone!
Spring has arrived! It is here and it has smacked me right across the face with the fiercest love slap imaginable! The sunshine, the leaves on the trees, the chirping birds, the peonies! Oh god, the peonies! What a happy happy girl am I!
It’s been a while (story of my life) so I thought I would give an update. This might seem a bit boring to some of you, but for people like my mom who check this thing daily to see what I’ve been up to, well this is for you :)
Two months ago I quit my job as a nanny for one family and became a nanny for another MUCH BETTER family. Goodbye five-year old jerk who slapped me across my face on my last day…goodbye three-year old mental exhaustion who wants to play dolls all day and tell me what my doll has to say. Hello nine-year old genius who wants to speed home from school so that she can read…hello seven-year old love bug who has the cutest laugh on the planet…hello four-year old comedienne who makes up her own hilarious stories with soundtracks to go with them. These girls are brilliant, they are incredibly funny, they love the Beatles! It’s a match made in heaven!

A couple weeks ago I went home to California and spent a beautiful week at home with my family. My cousins came over and we shared beautiful conversation over delicious food…being at home is truly the best all-inclusive resort! Thrift-store shopping (goodies in the shop SOON, I promise!), sitting on the patio around the fire, Korean spa day, delicious strawberry-rhubarb pie, questionable vegan lemon squares…heaven.
This past weekend Timmy and I went to Brooklyn for the cherry blossom festival at the Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Unfortunately, the flowers had already bloomed and fallen to the ground, but it was such a gorgeous day and we stayed as long as we could before the allergies started kicking in. After the gardens we walked around the adorable neighborhood of Park Slope and bought lemonade for 50 cents from a sweet lemonade stand and shopped around in a really cool antique shop and stopped by a handmade craft fair. All in all, a beautiful spring day!
Another really exciting thing for us is that our photography business Sweet Little Photographs is really taking off! We got a mention on Daily Candy as well as on Green Wedding Shoes and ever since then we’ve been having trouble keeping track of our inbox! We have a few weddings booked, many many more in the process of being booked, and lots of great conversations with wonderful clients happening. I’ve been working on my photography skills and with a teacher like Tim pretty soon I’ll be AMAZING ;) I am so happy with the way our life is taking shape, this is an incredible journey that I am so excited to start!
Here’s a piece of news for everyone: Tim and I will be in California for all of June and July…except for the two weeks in July that I will be in St. Tropez with the family that I work for (I TOLD you they were amazing!!!), so for all of you that wanted to come visit us in New York, you’ll have to wait until after August to do so!
The end!
Look at this sweet little darling! How wonderful does she look in the sparkly green sweater and the pink ruffly lace skirt!? I absolutely love her style and I’m so glad to add her to the list of Sugar Darlings! Thanks so much, Camilla!
We have been experiencing the most beautiful weather the past couple of days! It’s been in the 70s and sunny and just what I needed to get out of my winter blues. Today isn’t quite as warm or quite as sunny…it’s actually raining…but it’s a SPRING rain! All of our windows are open and the birdies are singing and it is as lovely as a rainy day could be!
To get in the mood for the change of seasons, we went shopping for some vintage goodies to add to the store! All of the items are bright, fun, and warm-weather worthy! We know those legs are dying for a tan so head over to the shop and check out our new dresses and skirts! We also added a few new tops that would look so good with shorts or maybe even a Sugar Darling skirt ;-) So shop away my darlings!
I have to admit that I get girl crushes all the time. You know, you see a girl walking down the street and she has incredible hair or incredible style or an incredible smile, and you can’t help but develop a slight crush. Well this is a little more than a slight crush because not only does she have the hair and the style and the smile, but she has a blog to showcase it all! And to top it all of she is SUPER nice, which of course only makes me crush harder :) So I would encourage all of you to go check out Taylor Sterling and her amazingly inspiring blog Sterling Style!
Here are just a few of my favorite looks:
Ever since our wedding was featured on Green Wedding Shoes, I have received tons of emails from brides-to-be asking about my veil. I was a little hesitant to make one for someone else because mine was kind of thrown together at the last minute, but after about the tenth email I realized that maybe I should give it a try. Caroline contacted me raving about my ivory peony birdcage veil and how it was exactly what she wanted and I just knew that I had to make her dream come true! I scoured the flea markets for a beautiful vintage brooch until I found a beautiful deep blue Austrian crystal one from the 1950s since Caroline’s colors are blue and yellow. And she gets her “something old”, “something new”, AND “something blue” all in one item…SCORE!
I loved how it turned out SO MUCH that I am going to make a few more and put them up on my etsy shop. And if you are a bride out there who is looking for a vintage twist, please contact me about making a custom veil for you! Imagine the possibilities: any color/kind of flower, any color brooch, all tied together with a sweet little birdcage veil!
Savanna Lynn, my best friend for 21 years, is getting married to the love of her life this July! Tim and I get to be a part of it in two very important and wonderful ways. I have been asked to be the Matron of Honor, which makes me happy beyond belief, and Tim has been asked to be the photographer! Ever since Tim and I met with our amazing photographers for our wedding last year, we have been really itching to start our own photography business. We have done quite a lot actually, but we haven’t shot an actual wedding yet. This will be JUST what our portfolio needs to get the ball rolling on our endeavor! We flew out to Wisconsin this past weekend to see them and to take some pictures of them in the beautiful snow scenery…they turned out to be quite wonderful. Check them out at Sweet Little Photographs!
Savanna and Andy are an AMAAAAZING couple and I am so blessed to have them in my life. It is so obvious how much they love each other and I love being in the same room with them because it just makes me so giddy! Their love is so mature, so deep, so understanding, so patient…so beautiful. I can’t wait to stand beside her in July and be a part of their celebration of love.
I love you Nani!

A project near and dear to my heart is slowly taking shape and I finally have time to devote to it. My ever-creative mother has been whipping up beautiful baby jackets, felt booties, and adorable aprons! We created an etsy shop and we are planning to take our lovely goods to flea markets and craft faires as well. Hopefully we might even get them into some fabulous baby boutiques! If you have a little sugar baby of your own or if you know someone who does then please check out our shop for precious vintage ensembles.
This is a reversible jacket made with vintage fabric on one side and a sweet pink handkerchief on the other.
And these are the adorable matching booties made with felt and the same vintage fabric as the jacket on the sole.
We are in the process of adding the rest of the amazing items to the shop, but for now please take a peek at what we do have and please feel free to leave us some feedback!
Last week we sold one of our favorite dresses in the shop to a beautiful little darling named Jillian! Here she is rocking out the teal and cream dress in photos worthy of a magazine! Whether wearing it alone or spicing it up with funky accessories, she truly lets her own style shine through! She’s a photographer too so check out her blog to see all of her amazing pictures.

LOVE IT!!!! Thank you so much for sending in the photos, Jillian!!!
I have always loved Valentine’s Day, from the elementary school days of making cards out of red construction paper and elegant white doilies to the middle school days of sending Backstreet Boys valentines…and of course all of the chocolate! When I was a sophomore in high school, I got a bouquet of roses and some delicious goodies from my first real valentine, and every year since we have found a wonderful way to tell each other how much our love has grown. This particular holiday has a very special meaning for us now…last year my darling proposed to me and exactly four months later we got married! This will be our tenth Valentine’s Day together. He is my first and only valentine <3
